A MESSAGE FROM THE FRENCH AMBASSADOR IN OTTAWA
I would like to congratulate the Outaouais Film Festival on its 20th anniversary! It is a pleasure for me to experience, during my first year in Canada, such a wonderful anniversary for a Francophile cinema festival that brings so much to the Outaouais region. From feature films to short films, from the great names of the past to new talent like Honourary President Maripier Morin, I am delighted that Didier Farré and his team continue to introduce people to international—and French, of course—cinema in Gatineau. At the same time, I am happy to recognize this initiative that contributes to the visibility of both the city and the national capital region.
The Embassy of France in Canada supports and promotes France’s very dynamic creative industry and we are dedicated to cultivating interest in French audiovisual content in all its forms in Canada. It is therefore natural for us to work with this festival, just as we do with the professionals and organizations that support professional and artistic exchange opportunities between France and Canada. I hope to see a bright future for the Outaouais Film Festival and for Franco-Canadian cultural cooperation. In the meantime, I’ll see you at the movies and I invite you to check out our culture-focused website www.francecanadaculture.org!
Enjoy the festival!
Ambassador of France to Canada
