Tanger. Driss gagne sa vie au jour le jour avec une voiture cabossée qui lui sert de taxi et de maison. Il tombe par hasard sur Fouad, un vieil homme méchant et intéressé qui tient un café sur une plage. Driss se prend d'amitié pour ce misanthrope qui pourrait être son père. Malgré les mises en garde de ses amis, il essaie de l'apprivoiser, lui offre des cadeaux, lui rend des services. Un jour il vient au café avec sa petite amie Betsoul. Fouad tente aussitôt de la séduire....

In Tangiers, Driss makes a hand-to-mouth living as a cab driver in his dented wreck of a car that serves both as taxi and home. He comes across Fouad, a nasty, self-seeking old man who owns a café on a beach. Driss strikes up a friendship with this cantankerous misanthrope who could be his father. Despite his friends’ warnings, Driss tries to win the old man’s affections, offering him gifts and helping him out. One day Driss brings his girlfriend, Betsoul, to the café and Fouad immediately hits on her…
