Six mois se sont écoulés depuis la disparition de Rachel Spirien. Le détective privé François Manéri reprend l'affaire à la demande de la mère de la jeune femme. Au cours de ses investigations, cet homme de l'ombre, riche d'une ex-femme et d'une maîtresse au mari jaloux, va rencontrer une multitude de personnages hauts en couleur, proches de la disparue : Clarisse, sa meilleure amie avec qui il s'acoquine, son ex-petit ami, son beau-père, ses voisins... Mais qui est réellement Rachel?

Private investigator Francois Maneri is assigned to find out what has become of a 22-year old college student named Rachel. The client is Rachel's mother, who has become dissatisfied with the police’s lack of progress on the case. A few days later, the young woman's body is found in a forest preserve. At first unwilling to investigate any further, Francois finds himself drawn into the complex layers of the case.
